TACA Afrobeats Fest Community Day

The Tidewater African Cultural Alliance (TACA) continues to bring people together throughout Hampton Roads through events that celebrate African culture, creativity, and community.

Afrobeats Fest Community Day creates an opportunity for residents to experience African music, dance, food, art, and cultural traditions while also providing a platform for local vendors, small businesses, artists, and community organizations to connect with the people they serve.

Through events like Afrobeats Fest, TACA helps create spaces where culture can be shared, community connections can grow, and local voices can be seen and supported.

Virginia Beach Housing Crisis: The Causes and Solutions

Affordable housing continues to place financial pressure on Virginia Beach residents. Staff O'Neil reports on rising housing costs, limited affordable rental options, lengthy waitlists, and the steps city leaders and community organizations say they are taking to expand housing opportunities.

According to the City of Virginia Beach, one in three households spends more than 30% of its income on housing expenses, while some affordable housing waitlists can stretch from one to three years.

City officials say new affordable housing developments are expected to bring 552 new units for families, while local organizations are also working to expand housing options for people facing homelessness.
